Best China Cities for Sourcing Tote Bags: Yiwu, Guangzhou, Baigou Compared
Published: August 15, 2026 | 8 min read
China concentrates bag manufacturing in a few regional hubs, and picking the right city changes your MOQ, price, and customization options. For totes specifically, three cities dominate: Yiwu (small commodities and low MOQ), Guangzhou (mid-to-high-end leather goods), and Baigou (the largest bag wholesale base in North China). Here is how they compare for wholesale buyers.
Yiwu: Low MOQ and Ready Stock
Yiwu is home to the world's largest small-commodity market and thousands of bag traders. Its strength is low minimum order quantities and huge ready-stock selections you can brand quickly. Factories around Yiwu (like Jinman Bags) run agile small-batch production, which is ideal for testing a tote line before scaling. Guangzhou: Premium Leather and Custom Development
Guangzhou (Sanyuanli, Liwan) is the center for genuine and PU leather handbags. If you want a structured, premium tote with refined hardware, Guangzhou factories offer stronger development and sampling. MOQs are usually higher than Yiwu, but the finish suits higher price points. See our Avery Structured Tote as an example of a polished work tote.
Baigou: Volume Wholesale Pricing
Baigou in Hebei is a massive bag manufacturing cluster focused on volume. Prices are very competitive at large quantities, but low-MOQ and fast sampling are weaker than Yiwu. Best when you already know the design and want the lowest unit cost at 1,000+ pieces.
Which City Should You Choose?
| Hub | Best for | Typical MOQ |
|---|---|---|
| Yiwu | Low MOQ, stock, fast branding | 50 pcs |
| Guangzhou | Premium leather, new development | 100-300 pcs |
| Baigou | Volume, lowest unit cost | 500+ pcs |
For most new and growing brands, Yiwu offers the safest start. Our tote collection spans shopper, structured, everyday, raffia, and woven shapes.

Which China city is best for low MOQ totes?
Yiwu. Factories there specialize in small-batch and ready-stock production starting around 50 pieces per style.
Is Guangzhou more expensive than Yiwu?
Usually yes, because Guangzhou focuses on leather and premium finishes, but the quality supports higher retail prices.
Can I visit these cities as a foreign buyer?
Yes. Yiwu and Guangzhou are buyer-friendly with trade markets, agents, and English-speaking factories.
Where do Jinman Bags operate?
We are a Yiwu-based OEM/ODM factory focused on low MOQ and fast sampling across all bag categories.
Should I split production across cities?
Not for a first order. Pick one hub that fits your MOQ, then expand once volumes grow.
