Frame Bags Wholesale: Sourcing the Structured Vintage Silhouette from China
Published: 2026-08-26 | 10 min read
The frame bag - a structured body closed by a metal frame and clasp (often a kiss-lock) - is the undisputed vintage-luxury silhouette. It reads heirloom and occasion, which is why it commands premium retail and performs in bridal, evening, and heritage boutiques. For importers the frame is a craft-differentiated product: the frame, hinge, and alignment separate a $30 bag from a $300 one. This guide covers materials, MOQ, pricing, QC, and sourcing for frame bags from China.
Why Frame Bags Hold Value
A metal frame signals 'constructed', so the silhouette justifies a higher price than a soft pouch of the same material. It pairs with the clutch and satchel categories for a heritage wall and extends the mini bag line into occasion wear.
Materials and Construction
- The frame. Brass or zinc alloy; ask whether it is cast or stamped - cast reads heavier and lasts longer.
- The clasp. Kiss-lock, turn-lock, or jewel clasp; the clasp spring is the top failure point.
- Body. Vegan leather, satin, or bonded fabric; the body must meet the frame cleanly.
- Lining. A stable lining keeps the frame from twisting the body.
MOQ and Pricing
| Material | FOB Cost (China) | Retail Range |
|---|---|---|
| Vegan-leather frame | $8-18 | $55-150 |
| Satin evening frame | $6-14 | $40-120 |
| Mini kiss-lock | $4-9 | $30-85 |
MOQ runs 100-300 pieces per frame style because frames are bought per mold; branding in custom logo bags.
Quality Control Points
- Clasp action. Open/close the kiss-lock 200 times; it must not loosen or stick.
- Frame-body alignment. The frame must sit flush with no gap or twist.
- Hinge strength. Pull-test the hinge at 3kg.
- Finish. No raw cast marks or plating voids on the metal.
Inspect at AQL 2.5 and keep sealed samples per our factory QC process.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the MOQ for wholesale frame bags?
Frame bags usually run 100-300 pieces per style because the metal frame is bought per mold; mini kiss-lock versions can start lower in mixed-SKU orders.
How much do frame bags cost wholesale?
Vegan-leather frames run $8-18 FOB, satin evening frames $6-14, and mini kiss-locks $4-9. Retail prices span $30-150.
Are frame bags durable?
Yes when the frame is cast (not stamped) and the clasp spring is rated; the main failure is a loose clasp, so cycle-test samples before bulk.
Can I brand frame bags?
Yes. Embossed frames, engraved clasps, and woven labels all work; see custom logo bags for methods and MOQ.
What is the biggest quality risk?
A frame that sits flush on one side and gapped on the other, or a clasp that loosens after weeks of use. Inspect alignment and run a 200-cycle clasp test.
Buyer's decision brief: Frame bags wholesale
The most reliable way to de-risk Frame bags wholesale is to test before committing. Order samples from two suppliers, compare them on stitch density, edge finishing, hardware plating and lining accuracy, and run a small first order before scaling. The factories that welcome this process are almost always the ones worth building a range with.
Whenever you evaluate Frame bags wholesale, the decision ultimately rests on four measurable things: unit landed cost, minimum order, lead time, and how consistently the factory can repeat the order. Buyers who optimise only for the first of these tend to lose money on the other three. Getting all four in writing before a deposit — including the inspection standard — removes most of the risk in a first order.

Mistakes buyers make with Frame bags wholesale
- Choosing on unit price alone without confirming inspection standard and lead time.
- Skipping physical samples and relying on photos.
- Not clarifying packaging, barcodes and labelling requirements early.
- Placing a first order at maximum volume instead of testing.
